This piece is a painfully beautiful masterpiece. Two days before starting this piece I suddenly lost my beloved grandmother to sepsis. Facing waves of emotion I felt compelled to paint, to give my feelings of love and loss concrete form. Through art, I’m able to express my feelings when words are patently inadequate. This piece is evidence that art can, in its distanced way, channel sorrow and even help to heal from grief. Regrettably, grief cannot be avoided, nor forgotten, but you can survive it and find a way to live on. In summary, this piece is the expression of grief and the power of art.
